Today, I’d like to talk about pelvic instability. If you have not heard of this before, this is what happens when your spine, pelvis and hip joints are not coordinated to hold your structure up. Often, this malalignment in addition to decreased muscular support can increase pain. As a result, people with chronic pain tend to spend a lot of time on the couch, which can increase weakness and the ability to carry out their normal life. This type of sedentary lifestyle leads to weight gain and can cause inflammation to become high.
Generally, people don’t always make good choices when they’re feeling disempowered because of pain. For this reason, I believe it’s so important to get to the root cause of the pain by decreasing inflammation and improving stability in a progressive way. This is the way to get full results. Many times people will go to physical therapy for a short period of time and then they discontinue the exercises that make them feel better. For this reason, I really want to emphasize that it’s a program over time that will give you the success you desire. As you look into the deeper cause of your inflammation and address the issue, your pain will decrease.
